Taseko’s Gibraltar Mine installs Wenco Fleet Management

June 2008 – Vancouver, BC. Taseko’s Gibraltar Copper Mine has installed Wenco’s Fleet Management System. Wenco’s fleet management system is a key component to Taseko’s major expansion and modernization plan.

Wenco will install 23 units of their onboard Axon computer hardware and software for the entire truck, shovel, loader, drill and crusher equipment fleets, and three Mobile Supervisor Terminals. The complete system selected by Gibraltar consists of FleetControl, Auto-Dispatch and Ore Quality Control, and, Mine-Vision, a complete real-time monitoring and control system with summary statistics and real-time mining performance reports.

Auto-Dispatch and Ore Quality Control features the ability to automatically assign trucks, optimizing equipment to maintain quality targets at stockpiles, crushers, or blend points. MineVision dynamically displays current position and status of all equipment.  Each component contains a complete list of properties available with the click of a mouse.

Wenco has provided an onboard interface between Wenco’s Axon computer and a third party tire monitoring system called TyreSense. The TyreSense System monitors the actual temperature and pressure inside the tire chamber. The interface transmits TyreSense data through Wenco’s Motorola MESH Communications network to the TyreSense database.

Field Supervisors at Gibraltar are now enabled to make timely decisions and modify operational plans to meet specific objectives. The Mobile Supervisor Terminal allows Field Supervisors complete control of the operation within their vehicles

By implementing of The Wenco Fleet Management System, mines have increased efficiency and production, eliminating the need to purchase additional production equipment.
