Micromine, the global leader in innovative software solutions and services to the exploration and mining industry, has recently been recognised and awarded at the Western Australian Industry & Export Awards, and by Business Review Weekly (BRW) and Australian Mining. The awards and recognitions are for its productivity enhancing software solutions, success in the international marketplace and pace of growth.
Micromine won the prestigious C.Y. O’Connor Award for Excellence in Engineering and Technology, and the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Export Award. The awards were held on 31 October 2008 at the Hyatt in Perth. Micromine’s success in the two categories has ensured its position as a finalist in the Australian Export Awards (AEA). The AEA showcase the ‘best of the best’ Australian enterprises in exporting. All winners will be announced on the 5th December 2008 in Sydney at a National Awards Presentation. The presentation will be attended by the Prime Minister of Australia, the Hon. Kevin Rudd MP.
Micromine was also a finalist in ‘The Australian Mining Prospect Awards’ in the category of ‘Innovative Mining Solutions’ for its mine production control software solution, PITRAM. The award category recognised those with a mining solution that has led to real mining improvements. PITRAM is a real time mine production control solution that records and manages mine site operations. It allows for the most productive use of resources on a mine site, therefore improving operations underlying business fundamentals. The awards were held on the 22 October 2008 in Sydney and are an initiative of the mining technology magazine ‘Australian Mining’.
Micromine was also ranked in the ‘BRW Fast 100′. This publication ranks Australian companies with up to 200 staff according to their average annual turnover growth over three years. While Micromine has been achieving rapid growth over the last three years, it has been successfully growing since its inception in 1986.
The C.Y O’Connor award for Excellence in Engineering and Technology recognised Micromine’s commitment to commercialized technological innovation. Micromine currently invests 30 per cent of its annual revenue into research and development (R&D), and has a program worth over $11 million. With such a robust R&D budget and a highly specialised team driving the program, Micromine is developing solutions that both meet and pre-empt the needs of the global exploration and mining industry.
The ICT Export award recognised Micromine’s ever expanding presence and growth in international markets. This growth comes out of the need to be geographically close to clients and their operations to service them effectively. It is also derived from the need to offer a solution that is market specific. Micromine’s solutions are currently available in four languages including Chinese, Russian, Mongolian and English. Spanish, and Arabic versions are to be released in the future.
The BRW ranking recognised the strength of Micromine which has been established over the 22 years it has been in operation. It also recognised the company’s presence and growth in international markets. With revenue growth of 68% in 2007/ 08, Micromine is continuing to develop and take to market the most innovative, productivity enhancing solutions for the global exploration and mining industry.
