SGS’ New Facility in Durango, Mexico is Open and Accepting Samples

SGS is pleased to announce that the laboratory facility in Durango, Mexico, is now open and accepting samples. The facility has been strategically designed and relocated to offer a comprehensive scope of analytical services. The official opening of the new facility will be held in July 2013.

The new laboratory has been designed to incorporate SGS’ new efficient sample processing protocol for sample preparation and fire assay as well as to significantly improve contamination control. The new facility also features the latest advances in environmental and worker health and safety protection.

The Durango facility will incorporate a full range of the latest testing, inspection and verification services to cover your project needs including:

• Full sample preparation services for soils, rocks and drillcore
• Fire assay with final measurement by flame atomic absorption spectrometry and classical gravimetric analysis
• Aqua regia and cyanide BLEG leach analyses for gold
• ICP-AES multi-element analysis
• Commercial party analyses for base metal concentrates and iron ore
• On-site laboratory design, commissioning and operation
• Gateway to SGS’s global network of analytical, metallurgical and environmental testing facilities

The facility will strategically support the growing needs of exploration companies in the region and complement SGS’ unmatched network of over 150 commercial, on-site, prep and MSPU geochemical laboratories, 12 metallurgical facilities, 5 mineralogy facilities, over 120 energy minerals labs, over 30 fertilizer labs and over 70 trade offices. Of these sites, 5 labs are fully integrated GEMM (geochemistry, environmental, metallurgy and mineralogy) labs (Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile and South Africa) and 2 provide integrated geochemistry-metallurgy services (Peru and Russia).
