Zijin Mining to take 9.9% stake in Montage Gold
As part of the deal, the Lundin Family Trust also agreed increase its stake in the company from 17.7% to 19.9%.
Geoscientists from the University of Toronto discovered a pocket of water approximately 2.6 billion years old in a mine in Ontario.
The ancient pool of water was found two miles underground near the town of Timmins and pre-dates the existence of multicellular life.
Researchers said it suggests the possibility that ancient life might also be found there and perhaps even on Mars, according to a report by NBC news.
Water can become isolated i n the Earth’s crust and serves as a time capsule of the environment during that period.
The findings appear in Nature, the international weekly journal of science.
