British Columbia Premier Christy Clark has won re-election, handing the BC Liberal Party its fourth consecutive majority government.
Until a few weeks ago, many had accepted a New Democratic Party (NDP) victory as a foregone conclusion.
Clark began the election campaign down 20% in the polls, but inched closer to NDP leader and election front-runner Adrian Dix in recent weeks.
Though she sealed the premiership, Clark did not win her home riding of Vancouver-Point Grey.
The BC Liberals ran on a pro-business platform of fiscal discipline and job growth.
