Big Oil seizes lithium opportunities
Mining companies could benefit in cash and technology as major fossil fuel companies invest in lithium.

CH4 tools
Even longwall units with high gas emission levels have to produce coal on a troublefree, process-optimised basis. Our specialist engineers have applied themselves to this challenge and to this effect have harnessed the coal-face measurement technology that is already part of the German mining industry’s weaponry. This work has resulted in two high-performance CH4 tools.
The analysis tool provides a program for optimised production planning that takes account of CH4-related stoppages, cutting depths and, on shearer faces, machine travel speeds. This planning instrument is supported by a control tool that can deliver production below the CH4 shut-down limit by timely intervention in the machine control system during the active winning phase.
Both tools combine to reduce on-face stoppages by keeping below the CH4 shut-down threshold, thereby helping to maximise the daily output.
Electronic explosives registry
The second innovation is the Electronic Explosives Registry (EXR). This tool provides for the individual and inventory tracking of explosives and accessories in SAP or some other ERP system. This is a requirement that your company will have to meet in order to comply with the relevant EU directive. The program is an integral part of the SAP MM module and is designed to log each and every material movement so that each individual unit can be stored in a life-cycle tracking system.
Control room technology
We will also be demonstrating how the latest control-room technology is now being used to manage high-performance colliery operations. The control-room systems on display are part of the tried and tested technology that is used at our coal mines on a daily basis.
