Fatality on winter road serving Stornoway Diamond

A lone truck driver working for a transport company died on midnight March 11 on a winter road which links Route 167 to the Renard Project in the Northern Québec region.

“The truck driver was part of a convoy transporting materials to the project site when the accident occurred,” said Stornoway Diamond in a news release.

The name of the driver was not released.

The Sûreté du Québec and the Commission de la Santé et de la Sécurité du Travail du Québec have been notified.

Stornoway says it is providing its support to the family and colleagues of the victim and the third party contractors involved, and will work closely with the authorities investigating the accident.
