Areva achieves 9,760 tons of uranium, a production record

French nuclear power conglomerate, Areva (EPA:CEI), achieved record uranium production in 2012 with 9,670 tons.

The company, the world’s second-largest uranium producer, said its mining sites in Kazakhstan and Niger beat their all-time highs for the second consecutive year: KATCO with 3,661 tU (53 tU more than in 2011), and SOMAIR with 3,065 tU (339 tU more than in 2011).

Uranium oxide price is trading at US$43.35/lb.

The 52-week high is US$52/lb and the the low is US$40.75/lb.
