Rio Tinto in $352m Canadian upgrade

Energy Minister Jonathan Wilkinson said Trump’s assertion that America doesn't need anything from Canada was “simply false.”

The moves are the latest signs that Glencore and Trafigura Group, which have long dominated metals trading, are being challenged by an influx of new competition.

The Washington Post reported that Trump aides were considering tariffs targeting critical sectors such as iron, copper, batteries, and rare earths.

The refinery will have the capacity to produce 1.2 million tons of alumina per year by the end of 2027.
