Russia to continue buying diamonds through state fund in 2025
The Russian budget for 2025-2027 has set aside $1.55 billion for the purchase of precious metals and gems.
Russia has been granted an exemption by the World Trade Organization (WTO) with regard to diamond trade as a member of the Kimberley Process.
The Kimberley Process, ensuring good origins of diamonds, imposes restrictions prohibited by the WTO, but the latter agreed in 2003 to grant exemptions to the process’ members.
