Subcontractors bring Caserones to a halt until February

Lumina Copper’s Caserones mine was scheduled to start production in the coming days. However, production will be delayed until February as subcontractors have decided to strike in order to obtain days off for the holidays.

Currently, only 900 workers out of the usual 18,000 workers have showed up for work at the mine.

This halt to activities will result in the loss of several million dollars. The company and unions will undertake negotiations in regards to which party will bare the losses.
