Lithium Americas to invest ARS 3 billion in lithium, potasium project in Argentina

Lithium Americas has announced it will invest ARS 3 billion (USD 816.75 million) in its Caucharí-Olaroz mining project in Argentina.

The company has partnered with state-owned company Jemse to carry out the lithium and potassium project located in the province of Jujuy.

The construction phase will involve the creation of 1,000 jobs and the production phase will employ 900 workers.

The company estimates to reach annual production of 20,000 tons of lithium carbonate and 40,000 tons of potassium chloride.

Production will mainly be exported and the company expects to achieve annual exports of between USD 164 million and USD 252 million.
