Parents prefer to name their daughters Ruby instead of Jade

The most popular baby name, within the universe of metals and precious stones, is Ruby according to BabyCenter.

Ruby has risen from negligible about 20 years ago to ranking as the 61st most popular girl’s name. It has even overtaken Jade and Pearl, ranked 110th and 999th respectively.

Meanwhile Diamond has moved in the exact opposite direction.

And yes there are parents who name their children after metals, such as Copper, Iron, Gold and Coal, but the numbers are small. Silver is the only metal that has some traction.
