Police recovers Barrick Gold’s van stolen in the U.S.

Police has located a van belonging to Barrick Gold (NYSE, TSX: ABX) stolen Wednesday morning in Elko, Nevada, officer Clair Morris told Elkodaily.com.

It is not know whether the vehicle carried gold, but sources said it was “unlikely.”

“A lot of these mining companies share vehicles and they leave them unlocked with the keys in what they think is a secret spot,” Morris was quoted as saying. “But people rummage through and look in the ash trays and console and find the keys and take it. I don’t know how many of these we lose each year.”

The van was found at the Thunderbird Motel.

Canada’s Barrick is the world’s top gold producer.
