JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA, November 5, 2012—Schlumberger Water Services (SWS) announced today the opening of a new office in Johannesburg, South Africa. The announcement comes as part of a SWS long-term plan to support the developing African mining sector.

The Johannesburg office team includes consultants with more than 30 years of combined project experience in 14 African countries. With a significant mine water management track record in Africa, combined with global technical resources and expertise, SWS is well positioned to support mining companies of all sizes with practical operational experience and proven processes.
The team will offer consulting services and technologies for mine water management, mine water scoping and feasibility studies, surface and groundwater characterization, dewatering system design and management, pit slope depressurization, solution and in-situ mining, environmental information management, tailings and heap leach monitoring and management, geochemical and waste rock assessment, and mine site closure and remediation.
