Mine Site Technologies Achieves GOST Certification

Mine Site Technologies, Sydney, N.S.W., Australia continues to make major investments in Eastern Europe and has successfully received GOST certification in Russia for both PED (Personal Emergency Device and ICCL Caplamp) and the ImPact Wi-Fi product suite. This certification opens the door for mines in Russia to use the PED and ImPact systems, which are considered to be two of the most reliable and effective emergency and operational communications systems available to the underground mining industry. With the overwhelming response Mine Site Technologies received at MINExpo from around the globe, including Russia, this certification could not have come at a better time.

The ImPact technology suite is designed to meet the communication infrastructure and application requirements of mines in the 21st century. The ImPact Digital System complements other communication technologies, ensuring the mine’s overall communication system not only meets the safety requirements, but enables optimum productivity from all their mining assets. The ImPact 802.11 Wireless LAN protocol / Wi-Fi compliant digital system enables automation, VoIP communication, vehicle intelligence, proximity detection, text messaging, video, and any other wi-fi enabled application.

The PED system uses a proprietary ultra-low frequency signal to transmit text messages through solid rock – “through the earth” technology.  The transmission system can be installed on the surface to send a signal to miners who are working underground, regardless of their location. Installation on the surface means that PED is less vulnerable to the day-to-day rigors of the underground mining environment, which adds to its reliability and supports keeping maintenance costs to a minimum. Messages can be sent to individuals, select groups of workers, or, in the case of an emergency, all employees underground.

Lloyd Zenari, CEO, announced, “These approvals open a new door of opportunity for Mine Site Technologies in Russia, and combined with our existing ATEX approvals and significant investment in global markets such as Eastern Europe, will enable our customers to continue enhancing safety, automation and productivity through the application of our mine-spec technologies.”
