Tom Meikle, president of Republic Energy, says the first thing new employees learn on the job is “safety first.”
“It’s our priority,” Meikle said. “We have a strong safety culture at this operation.”
Meikle says Republic Energy has an excellent safety record. Its injury rates are well below the national average in both 2006 and 2007.
In 2006, its non-fatal days lost, or NFDL, rate was zero with no lost time accidents. In 2007, it had three lost time accidents, which resulted in a 1.51 NFDL rate, which was still well below the national average.
