Rolling back environmental regulations and speeding up permitting for oil and gas as well as mining projects could put pressure on Canada to do the same.
Zambian Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda told reporters today that the government will invest USD 120 million to rehabilitate a railroad line between the largest producer of copper in Africa and South Africa.
“The matter of investing in Zambia Railways is of top priority and of extreme urgency,” Chikwanda said. Miners with operations in Zambia include Glencore International, First Quantum Minerals, Vedanta Resources and Barrick Gold.
