Perth’s Lonrho Mining (ASX:LOM) has discovered a giant 131.5-carat gem-quality white diamond at its Lulo Concession mine in Angola.
Jeweller Magazine reports that the giant white diamond measuring approximately 5cm in length was discovered alongside several other outsize gems, including a 38.3 carat diamond and a 8.7 carat diamond.
According to Lonrho’s managing director Miles Kennedy the find would imply the existence of rich diamond reserves in the immediate vicinity.
Lonrho commenced excavations in Angola’s Lulo Concession two years ago in collaboration with Angola’s state-owned Endiama.
