Children’s Education is one of the Reasons for Growth of FIFO Practice

As ABC Rural reports, the fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) practice of workers to the mine sites will probably be growing over the next years. Besides economic reasons, the social component plays an important role.

[…] Mr McNaulty [an analyst with Deloitte] also says his company’s research found many people choose FIFO for family reasons.

“You know, in many of the places, you get people to work there as a residential worker up until the end of primary school for their kids,” he said.

“Then at that point they’d much prefer to be in a fly-in-fly-out basis, so that they’re actually closer to really top education facilities.”
