The Mexican government proposed raising mining royalties under the argument that metal prices have risen in recent years.
The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s (CFTC) four-year probe into manipulation of prices on the silver market could be over as soon as September, according to CFTC member Bart Chilton.
Bloomberg reports that Chilton said via email he is “hopeful” of the investigation concluding as early as September or October, and that the probe “has already taken way too long.”
Silver Doctors believe it is unlikely that CTFC will conclude silver has been manipulated, due to potential fall out for markets still reeling from the LIBOR scandal as well as gold manipulation allegations.
