‘The Rocks on the Road’ Tour brings Mining Science to Kids in the Goldfields Region

As ABC News reports, the Goldfields Mining Industry Alliance tries to engage students in the Goldfields region in mining science to minimize future work force shortage. The project is funded by the Federal Government.

‘The Rocks on the Road’ tour started this week in Kalgoorlie, at St Mary’s Primary School, where students learnt about the geological history of the Goldfields 2.7 billion years ago.

Alliance chairman Darren Cooke says “We really want to show the local kids what they can do and get them to realise that they don’t have to leave the Goldfields’ region to get a great education and get into science.
