Thyssen Krupp Polysius and ABB cooperate to increase Australian Moly Mines’ molybdenum and copper concentrate production.
ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, announced today that it has won a contract to provide three high-pressure grinding roll (HPGR) drive systems (each with a power of 2 x 2650kW) for the grinding operation of the Moly Mines Spinifex Ridges project in western Australia. Each unit consists of two converter transformers, two ACS1000 drives and two squirrel cage induction motors.
Moly Mines awarded Thyssen Krupp Polysius the contract to supply the key equipment for the crushing & grinding circuit. The decision was made to cooperate with ABB and gain from their expertise and experiences in regard to the HPGR drive systems. The Moly Mines molybdenum and copper mine is located 50km north-east of Marble Bar in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
