Voith Turbo announces new director of mining and metals

Voith Turbo recently announced it has named Roland Hoet as director of Mining and Metals, a group within Voith Turbo’s Industry division.

Hoet will be responsible for 5 product groups within Mining and Metals: Fluid Coupling (startup systems), Safeset Torque Limiting Coupling, Universal Joint Shaft, Highly Flexible Couplings, and Hydrostatic Pumps & Hydraulic Controls.  The group head is a new position at Voith Turbo’s U.S. headquarters in York.  Voith Turbo also recently hired a new Marine Director, as well as three new sales and service positions within the Rail Division, continuing a period of growth and expansion across all four of Voith Turbo’s Division – Road, Rail, Marine and Industry.

“I am very excited about my new role as Director of Mining and Metals at Voith Turbo,” said Hoet, who started at Voith Turbo in 1987. “The director position allows Voith Turbo to integrate all of its mining and metals-related products and services into one group.  This will provide our customers with even better services as they continue to perform their important work in the mining and metals processing industry.”

As director, Hoet is responsible for organizing external and internal sales, application engineering, and aftermarket business within the Mining and Metals group.  The new position will allow Hoet to utilize synergies within product groups and to cross train the Voith sales team on all products within the group.

“We are pleased to welcome Roland in his new role as Director of Mining and Metals,” said Voith Turbo Senior Vice President Ron Wilson.  “Roland has over 20 years of experience with Voith Turbo, and has a strong grasp of the unique products within the Mining and Metals group.  Roland’s leadership will be invaluable to both his product group and Voith Turbo as a whole, and will provide our customers with top-notch service.”

Before becoming director, Hoet served in several capacities at Voith Turbo.  He was the product group manager for startup components from 2005 until taking his current position.  From 1996 to 2005, he was the product manager for fill control couplings.  His first position with Voith Turbo was as an applications engineer.  Hoet is a member of the Society of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers and has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Widener University in Philadelphia.
