Whitehaven Coal sees higher prices on disruptions
The company's Blackwater and Daunia mines in Queensland, which it recently purchased from BHP, produced 4.8 million tonnes.
Associated Press reports that Western Kentucky Minerals is making a second attempt at getting a 700-acre surface mining operation near Owensboro approved:
“The company is asking the Owensboro Metropolitan Planning Commission to approve the mine in the Pleasant Ridge area of southern Daviess County at its May 10 meeting. The area in question is currently zoned for rural agriculture or urban agriculture.”

As beneficial as mining can be, there has to be a balance with other sectors. The key there is finding that exact balance. Agriculture and housing are very important as well in their own right.
