Electric underground vehicle revolutionizes the mining industry

After years of on-road and underground testing, PapaBravo Innovations announced the availability of their line of heavy duty 4 x 4, 1 ton electric mining trucks in 2011. Since the launch, orders have been flooding PapaBravo Innovation’s doors as Saskatchewan underground mining companies take advantage of a solution to an enormous air quality problem. By replacing diesel trucks with emissions free electric drive vehicles, these mines now offer safer working conditions for their underground employees and reduced operating expenses.

The vehicles offer a safe, clean, emissions free alternative to the current diesel trucks operating in most underground environments. All the vehicles have certified roll-over-protection-systems (ROPS) and can be outfitted with certified falling-object-protection-system (FOPS). The product line has been expanded from 1⁄4 ton personnel carriers to 1 ton work trucks; almost any diesel underground vehicle can now be replaced by an emissions free electric vehicle. The full line available through PapaBravo Innovations are designed specifically for underground potash mining conditions and are equipped to take the harsh abuse of the underground work environment.

With the capability to travel 120km per charge, the vehicles are a perfect replacement for a diesel truck. The vehicles are powered by Lithium-Iron-Phosphate (LiFeP04) batteries which require no maintenance and do not have any gases present during charge or discharge. The hauling capacity of this truck is 4000 lbs making it one of the highest capacity 1 ton trucks. PapaBravo’s heavy- duty industrial vehicles can be charged in less than an hour giving them the capability to run 24/7 or up to 500 km per day.
