Turkey top envoy goes to Niger in bid to secure uranium supplies
The trip comes after Niger’s military government withdrew mining rights from Canadian and French companies to develop uranium deposits.
Zambia Daily Mail is reporting that a mining licence will soon be issued for a lead-zinc mine.
The website said the Zambian government is about to issue the licence after successful negotiations between Alberg Mining and Minerals Exploration and ZCCM-Investment Holdings, which holds shares in the Kabwe zinc mine.
The negotiations started in 2008 but have taken this long to conclude due to, among other reasons, ownership of surface rights. The government will revoke the licence if mining does not begin within a year, Zambia Daily Mail reported.
