TORONTO, Jan. 9, 2012 /CNW/ – Morrison Park Advisors (“MPA”) is pleased to announce that it is expanding its mining sector presence with the appointment of Stephen Altmann as Managing Director. Previously a CEO-level mining executive and investment banker, Steve will work with MPA’s team of seasoned professionals in providing high quality strategic, corporate and financial advisory services to companies in the mining sector.
Prior to joining MPA, Steve was President and a Director of ECU Silver Mining Inc., which he joined in January 2007. During his tenure at ECU, Steve played a key role in all company strategic matters including equity and debt financings, asset acquisitions, joint venture negotiations, technical reports and exploration and production decisions. These efforts culminated in ECU’s merger with Golden Minerals to form a leading junior silver mining company with a pro-forma market capitalization in excess of $600 million. Steve is also a member of the Board of Directors of AQM Copper Inc.
Prior to joining ECU, Steve worked as an investment banker providing financial and strategic advice to a large selection of domestic and international public companies at such firms as RBC Dominion Securities, Credit Suisse First Boston, Scotia Capital and most recently at Desjardins Securities as head of the mining team. Steve also worked as a geophysicist prior to his investment banking career and holds an MBA from McMaster University and an Honours Bachelor of Science (Geophysics) degree from the University of Western Ontario.
Steve will lead MPA’s advisory activities in the mining sector, providing senior-level investment banking advice to Canadian and international issuers regarding mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, financings and capital markets related matters.
