Mining’s old guard needs strong medicine
A new report details subpar investor returns in the mining industry over the last decade, particularly big cap diversified companies which have not adapted to new realities.
FLSmidth has been awarded a contract worth approximately $105 million from the Mongolian company, Mongolyn Alt (MAK) Group, to supply a greenfield copper concentrator for a mine some 500 km from the capital city Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The order comprises supply of a 40,000 t/d copper concentrator including proprietary FLSmidth technology for all processes in the plant. The recently acquired Knelson-Deswik fine grinding mill will be used for concentrate re-grind. An automated control system, basic and detailed plant and process engineering and related supervision, start-up and commissioning services will also be supplied by FLSmidth. (more…)
