Mining’s old guard needs strong medicine
A new report details subpar investor returns in the mining industry over the last decade, particularly big cap diversified companies which have not adapted to new realities.
Bill O’Reilly, talk show host on Fox News, believes Keystone XL oilsands pipeline is going to be approved, and it will be good the U.S.
O’Reilly made the comments to Canadian radio show host Charles Adler. The interview with O’Reilly is set to run later this week.
O’Reilly is a leading news commentator on the U.S. cable network Fox News. He is watched by four million people each day.
Adler, who is also a pipeline supporter, asked O’Reilly how he would respond to Darryl Hannah and her “ilk” who are protesting the pipeline. In August O’Reilly interviewed Hannah, who opposes the building of Keystone XL.
“Look, we are all sensitive to the environmental issues,” O’Reilly told Adler.
“You are sensitive to it up there; we are sensitive to it down here. But there comes a point where you safeguard the environment as much as you can, and you have to have progress.”

The environmentalists are all the same: They want what they want but do you ever, repeat ever, see anyone of them stepping up to the plate and forming their own companies and attempting to provide other forms of energy while proving to themselves and or the world that these other forms of energy are so much better than the forms of energy that we have a present.
The real concern with the fossil fuels is the pollution and environmental damage that is created during all aspects of its use.
Everyone realises this and everyone wants clean energy but the clean energy does not address the hundreds of other aspects of what oil and gas and the petrochemicals industry provides.
Wind energy is great and environmentally cleaner…but could not effectively and succesfully be accomplished without the oil and gas and petro chemical industries that are needed to creat the wind power energy and ALL that entailed to make it a reality.
Darryl Hannah is rich and she is associated with wealth and access to big money finance.
What she should be doing is forming her own energy company and leading the way and prove to us that her platform is the one to follow.
Her efforts are admirable and she is part of a swing towards more green energy ..but still she should be in the energy business if she is so ADAMANT and believes so strongly in her environmental causes.
Rather than confront the oil and gas industry and fight against them she should shut up and prove to everyone she is serious and run her own environmental energy company and then prove to us it is better and it can be run succesfully and profitably.
Hannah and her supporters are no different than others while whining and complaining.
They expect and or demand that “others ” do the actual work of creating green energy.
Let Hannah and her likes spend their money and take the finacial risks envolved to create the green energy they want so much.
Until then ..she is all talk and complaining and ready to blame others, including her personal consumpton of energy also.
