Santacruz Silver Mining reports fatality at Tres Amigos mine in Bolivia
Tres Amigos mine, a part of the Caballo Blanco Group of mines, has resumed operations after it was shut down following the incident.
Westminster Resources (“Westminster” or “the Company”) has now compiled results for the recent 2,000 metre drilling program at the Company’s Sonora, Mexico properties.
The drill program at the El Cobre Property – San Bartolo prospect (1,499 metres) was designed to test five anomalous silver-copper soil geochemical trends, subcrop anomalous rock samples and old artisanal prospect shafts and pits. The San Bartolo 16-hole program only targeted approximately 1.5 kilometres of strike of the structurally controlled system which extends across and beyond the 3.2 Km x 2 Km soil grid. San Bartolo Hole 11-05 intersected 3.1 metres (12.5m-15.6m) grading 145.3 g/t silver and 1.03% copper(Table 1). This Cu-Ag mineralized system and its associated potassic altered pink granitic dykes may be genetically related to the much larger Cumbral trend recently identified on the property just 5 km. to the northwest.
The Saddle prospect at the Navojoa Property was tested with seven diamond drill holes totaling 502 metres. Marble-hosted, sub-cropping, massive sulphide replacement mineralization and a related geophysical magnetic anomaly were drilled. The sulphide intercepts were found to be contained near surface above a fault. The most significant intercept was found in Hole 11-01 at 22-23 metres where massive pyrrhotite graded 0.43% copper, 8.85% zinc and 8.9 g/t silver over one meter (Table 2).
“We are excited about the potential at the Saddle prospect,” commented Bruce Ballantyne, Project Manager. “Subsequent to drilling the Company received the interpretation of airborne geophysical survey results from the area that indicates that two other much larger VTEM and coincident magnetic anomalies that appear to be not fault bounded are situated just to the east of the Saddle prospect.”
