NL Technologies announces MSHA approval for Messenger RT Cap Lamp

NL Technologies today announced that the Messenger RT (Reverse Tracking) Cap Lamp has been approved by MSHA (Mine Safety Health Administration). The Messenger RT will allow coal mines to meet the requirements of the PPL-09 and Miner Act without having to install system infrastructure or cables past the load out point. In most, cases only small RFID tags are required, typically located at the intersection of the entries and the second open.

The MSHA approval number is 6D-42-8 PAR 96042. The approval will allow NL Technologies to begin shipping Messengers to any coal mine with a Wi-Fi network. While this includes the NL Digital network, they can be used with any system offering standards based Wi-Fi. Northern Light® Messengers have been widely installed in Australian coal mines since 2009. Messengers are available through Becker Wholesale Mine Supply based in Irwin Pennsylvania.
