We’ve all heard, or at some point used the phrase, “how long is a piece of string?” to illustrate a conundrum. Well, any guitarist will tell you that it should be around one metre to accommodate an average guitar scale length and to leave the rest to be wrapped around the bridge and tuners. They will also tell you that the strings have a known thickness, that is gauge, and with simple calculations one could figure out the total volume and weight of the strings on the guitar as well.
