Canada’s NextSource Materials (TSX: NEXT) has appointed Hanré Rossouw as its new president and chief executive to lead the company during the current growth phase.
Rossouw, a dual British and South African citizen, will leverage his extensive 25-year experience in the natural resources industry to lead NextSource.
He had joined NextSource’s board as a director in Sept. 1, and he’s taking on the company’s helm effective today.
“Embracing an electrified future is a critical route to decarbonization, but building a mining and processing business with global operations is a significant undertaking,” Rossouw said in the statement.
Rossouw, who previously worked as executive director and chief financial officer of Sasol Limited, said that NextSource has a large, high-quality resource, downstream growth options and strong partnerships. This mix, in his opinion, makes it a “compelling investment opportunity” with “significant upside potential”.
Craig Scherba, NextSource’s current president and CEO, will transition to the role of director and chief development officer, with a focus on strategies, offtake negotiations, and expanding the miner’s relations with suppliers.
NextSource shipped in October its first commercial batch of graphite concentrate from its Molo mine in southern Madagascar. The Toronto-based miner is now focused on expanding its battery anode facilities (BAFs) globally to support the electric vehicle and energy storage systems markets.
