Mining’s old guard needs strong medicine
A new report details subpar investor returns in the mining industry over the last decade, particularly big cap diversified companies which have not adapted to new realities.
Revenue from Brazil’s mining sector reached 68 billion reais ($13.3 billion) in the first quarter, up 25% from the same period last year, according to data released on Thursday by industry group Ibram.
The country’s mining exports between January and March grew 11.3% to 87.5 million metric tons year-over-year, Ibram said.
