Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co Ltd, Japan’s biggest zinc smelter, plans to produce 104,600 metric tons of refined zinc in the first half of the 2024/25 financial year, up 0.9% from the same period a year earlier, it said on Monday.

The first half runs from April to September.

Zinc is used mainly as an anti-corrosive coating while making galvanized steel.
