Komatsu, a global leader in construction and mining equipment, has announced that the first Proterra Powered all-electric excavator will be unveiled next week at the bauma2022 trade fair in Munich.
Expected to launch in the Japanese and European markets in 2023, the excavator represents the first application of Proterra’s battery technology in an off-road vehicle – demonstrating the versatility of our EV technology to electrify commercial vehicles, from transit buses and trucks to delivery vehicles, construction equipment, and more.
Through the collaboration with Komatsu, this technology eliminates exhaust emissions so workers can operate safely in urban environments while also cutting noise pollution. In addition to electric construction equipment, Proterra and Komatsu are also collaborating to electrify underground mining machinery with Proterra’s battery technology.
