AEMA, coalition launch legal challenge to BLM Conservation and Landscape Health Rule
The American Exploration & Mining Association was joined by a coalition in filing a challenge last Friday in the Wyoming district court.
Engie Energía Perú, a subsidiary of France’s Engie, is ready to start working on the development of the $300 million, 260MW Punta Lomitas wind project in south-central Peru.
The energy company recently signed a contract with Siemens GESA Renewable Energy and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy related to the supply of wind turbines. Construction is expected to begin in the second half of 2021.
Punta Lomitas is a wind park with a nominal capacity of 260 MW. It is located in the Ocucaje-Ica region and includes a 220kV, 60-kilometre long transmission line that will connect to Peru’s Interconnected National Electric System.
The facility is also expected to provide 150 MW for an initial eight-year period to Anglo American Quellaveco’s copper project located in the Moquegua region.
Quellaveco is considered one of the world’s largest undeveloped copper deposits with ore reserves totalling 1.3 billion tonnes at an average grade of 0.57% tcu.
