The Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines granted Canada’s C3 Metals (TSXV: CCCM) a drilling permit for its flagship Jasperoide project, located in the Andahuaylas-Yauri Porphyry-Skarn Copper Belt in southern Peru.
The authorization allows C3 Metals to undertake exploration activities, including trench and channel sampling, the construction and drilling from 40 platforms, associated drill sumps and gutters, and the provision of track and road access. The approved schedule allows for all works, including rehabilitation of sites to be completed in 34 months.
This would be the first drilling campaign carried out on the project since 2012
In a press release, the miner said that preparations are well advanced for an initial 15 hole, 3500-metre diamond core drilling program which will initially focus on the high-grade copper-gold skarn and porphyry targets at the Montaña de Cobre and Cresta Verde prospects, and the epithermal gold-silver target at the Callejón de Oro prospect, where epithermal style mineralization assays reported 11m @ 19.5g/t Au.
According to C3, this would be the first drilling campaign carried out on the project since 2012.
“We view the Jasperoide project as an exceptional copper-gold opportunity that will drill-test a large-scale mineralized system in a world-class copper region,” C3 Metals’ executive chairman, Tony Manini, said in the media brief.
“We look forward to reporting a consistent flow of news as our drilling program ramps up over the coming months.”
The Jasperoide project covers 57 square kilometres at an elevation of 4,300 metres. Previous exploration identified copper and gold mineralization in a magnetite skarn with a classic hydrothermal alteration signature of an underlying copper porphyry system.
