50kg gold ingots go missing on Air France flight

Around $2.1 million worth of gold bullion has gone missing from an Air France plane on a flight between Paris, France and Zurich, Switzerland.

French specialist police are now investigating the theft of roughly 50kg of ingots which was only discovered the following day at the destination Swiss airport.

The cargo was being handled by American Brink, a security company which regularly transport high value goods between the two destinations.

“We are investigating the matter, and especially the possibility that this was an inside job,”  an investigating source told the Daily Mail.

The Connexion reports “the news comes after police announced the seizure of €200 million of cocaine that had arrived in Paris on an Air France plane from Venezuela.”
