MINING.com receives numerous emails every week from around the world offering us good deals on anything from europium oxide to cold rolled steel, not to mention second-hand excavators or a discount on an Ulan Bator apartment for rent.
But this particular message sent from a nondescript gmail account that started with “Dear gold business hello” and the accompanying photos caught our eye.
On offer was “perennial supply of gold ore” from Africa purportedly of “superior quality” but with no purity rating at “PRICE $42000 PER KG _”. The ruling price for gold on Monday was closer to $55,000 per kilogram of gold.
Like South America and parts of Asia, artisanal mining is a huge industry in Africa, but that’s still a lot of gold to have gathered in one place.
What do you think about this deal? Or is all that glisters not gold?

There are actually places in West Africa that one can get the AU element at a black market price called the bush price in Ghana. You can only get it in ounces since you will have to buy it at varying bush prices which are still below the world market price. investors are coming in but without the right research and security they get scammed. Contact 00233286522422 for advice and possible contacts to miners, accommodations, security and close perimeter escorts to concession sites and pits. email [email protected] for more enquiries.

I am looking for those kind of gold????!
Jet-Pilot
Several “Gold Clearing Houses” here in the USA use the “Bush Method” making bi-monthly trips to various mining site locations in/around Africa buying “LARGE” amounts of gold IE 400-500kg at a time; well below market value typically around 30% less I believe. Which when you look at the #’s is HUGE profit as they then sell it within the open private American investor markets typically holding it in “Private Reserves” for their investors in which they can also loan against for cash liquidity to acquire more. The transport and importation of which is the tricky part as obviously hiding a few pounds of Gold is fairly easy inside electronics etc but you can’t hide 1000lbs, so they have “Special” customs arrangements for clearing the Gold into the USA not sure of ALL the details as its very hush hush, but I do know they are clearing customs primarily in Texas and route their Private Jet Flights via the Islands before landing in Texas where they again have “Special Arrangements”, my only assumption is they’ve negotiated some deal somewhere to avoid the import taxes somehow. Security is always extremely heavy “Military Escorts” within Africa at all times, armed private security on the aircraft in transit and aircraft held in Government Facilities at all times when on the ground both in Africa and the Islands, its a big deal however one not under public scrutiny or awareness all kept very hush hush. I only know as I work in Private Aviation and have both arranged and coordinated the flights as well as flown the trips a couple times. My point being there is ALOT of money involved and beyond the obvious venture of making a killing it seems there are other factors involved, not sure what maybe the stabilization of the US dollar by flooding the markets with low cost gold, I dunno, but one thing I can definitely say is I am sure its a “Bush-Buddy’s” deal as funny its ALWAYS via Texas no matter where it ends up. And even more ironic that it is very true that Black Market Gold is referred to as “Bush-Price” makes you wonder…
One thing do know is THIS is something I am very interested in and however NOT o such a large scale but myself would love to start a monthly trip down to Africa to acquire 1-3kg of gold at such pricing and sneak it back into the USA which is easily done. So anyone with knowledge and or sources to facilitate such a need post some good info… Would be nice to clear an extra few hundred thousand a year in such activity..!!! Especially these days, the world is up for the taking with very little constraints…

1st pic, using my hand as reference that ingot is ~221 cm3, so ~4.3 kg’s, that two handled box would be pretty heavy, looks suspect?

Jump on a plane …go see …. 100% guaranteed rip off considering buyers are sitting under trees on every mineral field in every 3rd world country, and willing to pay 10% less on spot price on the day… or seller sells direct to refinery 7% + 3 -5 % government tax on spot price.
Ps .. Dont forget to leave some ransom money with your family before going bargain hunting in a foreign land looking for such massive discounts that simply do not exist in 2015

I was scammed .
Stay well away from buying gold in Ghana 99% of the time you
will be scammed don’t even trust the agents that appear legitimate. It takes a
great deal of effort and time to put 1kg of gold together out there in the
African bush so doesn’t believe these scammers. The usual trick is to give you
a teaspoon full of gold from a heap of supposedly gold dust have it tested in a
lab in your presence then sell you a kg of copper.Look out for the well known scammers Justice Akota and Prince Mensah Africa
ancient mining linked to a fictitious chief. STAY WAY DONT DEAL WITH THEM

Hello friends and buyers of gold,
It is high time you should learn your lesson, i have red several article, messages and blogs concerning the gold scam. I came to understand that many people in the business has taken it off business but game.
I also took my time to observe the reason and tricks behind it which i had the result as it stands. Mostly the buyer are the victims because there are a lot of bad buyers in the business. The gold scam increased in Africa since the realised that their buyers from the wersten side have always seen to be fools and hungry people forgetting that few African are educated and know the value of gold in the world. When a buyer will price a gold for $15 or $20.000, it does not give the seller the impression to tell the buyer truth when he knows what he might have gone through their local way of excavation to get a kilo. I can give you a sample photo of the local mining site.
Secondary, Buyers of this days woulden’t want to pay cash after reducing the price of the product and will arrange for only payment of the export charges in the name of transporting the gold to their own refinary for another test before payment. If it is so, tell me the security of the goods that is not been paid and be exported. Does it mean that there no good refinary in Africa that will give a good result of assay?
The More wiser buyers will ask the seller to bring the gold to their country without assisting the buyer or may contribute a token money to expect some kilos of gold while you have never meet the seller and the seller doesn’t know you.
If you want to have gold from a geniune seller, do not buy from those sellers who agree with you on any price below $25.000.
Do not work on total CIF else you might have done business with the particular seller.
Make sure you pay for your gold at the refinary and stop using tricks or try to cheat in the business. You shall meet a good gold seller because they are out their and they mine all day.
Thanks,
Mr Amadu Kone

At The Perth Mint we get these sort of scam emails on a frequent basis, but never with pictures!

I get these kinds of offers all the time too…..have gotten a few discounted deals with remote miners, but almost all are scams …..but if you have someone working in the region it can be fun to check them out….if so, one has to be very careful that it is not a means of enticing you into a kidnapping or illegal transaction….must insure that you have proper security, assay equipment, governmental clearance to buy/export, and means to verify ownership with you.

I might add that the gold in the pictures looks like it does contain mercury and is not pure so your price quoted may well be high or so reflect assumed value after refining
