Petro-Canada is building a network of electric vehicle (EV) fast charging stations across the country. More than 50 EV stations will be located along the Trans-Canada highway from Nova Scotia to British Columbia.
Construction is set to begin this spring with the sites opening over the next year.
Petro-Canada stations will offer DC fast chargers with both CHAdeMO and CCS/SAE connectors to support a broad selection of vehicles. The chargers can provide up to a 200 kW charge – enough to provide an 80% charge to most EVs in less than 30 minutes. The units will be capable of 350 kW charging with future upgrades.
A test site is currently operational in Ontario. For a full list of the locations where an EV fast charge will be available, visit Petro-Canada.ca/EV.

I wonder who has 30 mins to sit at a charging station every time they need to “fill-up”?

It will be less than 30 minutes since it’s a 200kw charger – about 20 minutes, and that’s if you’re practically empty. A 120kw fills you up in half an hour. With the future upgrade, that can be twelve to fifteen minutes. By the time you go to the washroom and get coffee, you’re done. This is much better than large transport trucks burning gas to deliver gas to a million gas stations only to have people pay for the gas to burn more gas!!
